The website also houses a directory of organizations that are involved with the campaign and have particular skill sets and resources to make natural spaces more accessible for people with varying abilities. Check out the amazing work that Flat Rock Brook Nature Center has completed!! We are proud partners of the Nature Center in our efforts to make nature sites, trails, and programming more inclusive and accessible for individuals of varying abilities. The Nature Center was a recipient of a modest stipend from the Nature Accessible for All initiative facilitated by Pinelands Preservation Alliance to help them complete the restoration and accessibility work at there site.

Visitors now have access to the new nature-based playground, the orange loop trail, picnic groves and comfort station.

The area features several ADA-compliant features including ramps, the bridge across the brook, picnic tables and our nature-themed playground abides by Jake’s Law design mandates.

The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference is a volunteer-powered organization with a long history of improving trail access and conditions on public land. This presentation with Peter Dolan will share ways that the Trail Conference is working to expand accessible trail opportunities, despite its construction capacity being primarily limited to volunteers and hand tools. This includes recent investments in accessible trail advocacy, education, and consideration in trail planning efforts. Foremost among these efforts is a new trail construction guidance document, funded by a stipend from the Access Nature Forum, which incorporates accessibility considerations into even the most rustic wilderness footpath trails.
