Organizational Summary

The mission of New Jersey Conservation Foundation is to preserve land and natural resources throughout New Jersey for the benefit of all.

The Foundation is a private, not-for-profit, nonpartisan, statewide organization. We rely on philanthropic support and grants from a variety of public and private organizations and individual donors.

Recognizing that a healthy environment is critical to the well-being and survival of all living things, New Jersey Conservation Foundation is devoted to preserving land and protecting natural resources throughout New Jersey’s rural, suburban, and urban landscapes.

The organization manages more than a dozen nature preserves, conducts public outreach and education programs, and advocates for sensible land use and climate policies that will protect the health of New Jersey’s plants, wildlife, and people for generations to come.

New Jersey Conservation Foundation owns and manages more than 27,000 acres with 75 miles of trails throughout the state. Working closely with Pinelands Alliance are conducting assessments of trails in southern and central New Jersey to identify accessibility barriers. Then select a subset of trails to improve with the goal of maximum accessibility.

Organizational Summary

Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of people with disabilities through inclusive sport, wellness and passive recreation programs.

PCAS currently operates 13 sport-and-wellness programs year-round, with a focus on building inclusive communities with barrier-free and supportive settings.

Our programs help participants build and maintain strength and function, improve emotional health, and develop lifelong friendships through engagement in sports and recreation in the community.

For all our participants, we provide equipment, venues, instruction, training, a team of peers and a capable group of encouraging volunteers. We offer children and adults a place where they can explore their abilities.

We especially strive to create opportunities for veterans and young athletes, including helping schools add adaptive sports programs and sustain a vibrant Para Sports culture.

PCAS offers consultation services to agencies and educational institutions, and serves as an advocate for adapted sports.

Ocean County Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of outdoor activities in 27 parks and conservation areas. With over 4000 acres of preserved and well maintained land you can enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, canoeing, fishing, ball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds and so much more. With parks from Point Pleasant Beach to Tuckerton you’re sure to find an adventure near you.

The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation has worked diligently to provide accessibility to our parks. Towards that end, the Ocean County Board of Commissioners has strongly endorsed our goal, and we have been able to provide a park system that encourages our residents with disabilities to come out and enjoy our beautiful facilities!

We have two “beachwheels” available to visitors at our parks. These are comfortable, PVC chairs with wide “balloon” wheels, which enable transportation over sandy surfaces. We will be happy to transport the beachwheels to any park facility in the Ocean County park system with 36-hours notice.
We will accommodate special needs upon request, given at least 36-hours notice in all cases. Most of our program rooms are fully accessible, as are our restroom facilities. Parking areas are also clearly marked at all our parks.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding accessibility in Ocean County Parks and Recreation, please e-mail us at OCParks@co.ocean.nj.us or telephone Toll Free: or 732 506-9090

At Rails to Trails Conservancy, we are building a nation connected by trails. We re-imagine public spaces to create safe ways for everyone to walk, bike and be active outdoors. Since 1986, RTC has worked to bring the power of trails to more communities across the country, serving as the national voice for the rail-trail movement. With more than 1 million grassroots supporters, 25,000+ miles of rail-trails on the ground nationwide and more than 9,000 miles of rail-trails ready to be built, our focus is on linking these corridors—creating trail networks that connect people and places, bringing transformative benefits to communities all across the country. Our flagship initiatives—the Great American Rail-Trail®, TrailNation™ and TrailLink.com™—bring that strategy to life, connecting millions of people by trail.
