Organizational Summary

ESU’s mission centers on expanding workforce development, career exposure, training, and employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired individuals and other underserved communities. Our work increasingly intersects with environmental education, green careers, community-based environmental projects, and creating pathways into industries where people with disabilities and other historically underserved populations remain underrepresented.
This mission was reflected in our recently concluded NJDEP Youth Inclusion Initiative (YII). Through that program, we worked to ensure that young people with different backgrounds, abilities, interests, and career goals had meaningful access to environmental education, field experiences, professional environments, and career exposure.
